Terms of the award

The works are scheduled to commence immediately and be completed by March 2028, Sunway Construction said in its filing with the stock exchange. The letter of award, received on Friday, Aug 21, 2026, also serves as the notice to commence works, so no separate start instruction is required. The identity of the client was not disclosed, nor was the exact location of the two projects — the filing identifies the customer only as a multinational technology company based in the US.

Order book reaches RM6.85 billion for FY2027

The latest award lifts Sunway Construction's new order wins for the financial year ending March 31, 2027 (FY2027) to RM6.85 billion. For a contractor whose business spans building construction and specialised engineering works, the scale of the new wins shows how demand from technology-sector clients — including large fit-out packages for their facilities — has become a major source of order-book growth.

Profit up despite lower revenue

The builder reported a 56.4% year-on-year jump in its first-quarter net profit despite lower revenue, as it executed higher-margin, specialised projects, combined with a rebound in its precast concrete segment. Net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 (1QFY2026) rose to RM118.41 million from RM75.72 million in the year-earlier quarter.

Market reaction
