Saritas Launches an Integrated Stainless Steel Investment in Yalova: 800,000 Tons a Year and 1,200 Jobs by 2030
ISTANBUL, May 26, 2025 — Turkish stainless steel producer Saritas Celik Sanayi has launched a major investment in an integrated stainless steel facility in Yalova, a city in western Türkiye. The four-phase project in the Machinery Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) is expected to reach full capacity by 2030, supporting 800,000 tons of annual production and generating 1,200 jobs. The move aims to expand Türkiye's export capacity, reduce dependency on imported materials and strengthen the country's position in the global steel market.

Four phases toward full capacity by 2030
Construction of the first two phases, which include cold rolling operations, is already underway and slated for completion in 2027. According to the company, the investment programme unfolds as follows:
- Phases 1–2 — cold rolling operations, completion in 2027; 400,000 tons of annual output and 500 new jobs.
- Phase 3 — a hot rolling plant to follow in 2028, increasing total production and bringing employment at the site to 700 workers.
- Phase 4 — an on-site melting facility to be launched by 2030, integrating the entire process from raw steel to finished product and taking the plant to its full 800,000-ton capacity and 1,200 jobs.
Export capacity and import substitution
The facility is positioned as a step toward industrial independence for Türkiye's stainless steel sector: full control of production using local resources is intended to meet both domestic and international demand. Saritas Celik supplies industries including white goods, automotive, energy and defense, and sees its growth strategy as rooted in production, investment and industrial partnerships. The company has a 65-year history in the sector, and its exports have reached 74 countries.
Engineering aligned with green goals
Engineering work for the facility incorporates energy efficiency, automation, digital traceability and recycling. Saritas said the plant is designed to meet both production and environmental targets, aligning with Türkiye's green goals.
Value-added processing services
Beyond primary production, the company provides value-added services such as slitting, cutting, grinding, painting and surface treatments for various industrial clients — capabilities that complement the new integrated site.
Gebze processing center continues operations
Saritas also operates a processing center in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, employing 350 people with a 750,000-ton capacity. This center will continue operations alongside the new plant, preserving the company's existing service network for industrial customers.
'Industrial sovereignty lies in integrated facilities'
Ercument Saritas, chairman of Saritas Celik, described the project as a strategic step toward industrial independence.
"This integrated facility investment in Yalova OSB is not just an increase in capacity but a significant move to strengthen Türkiye's domestic and national production power in stainless steel, reduce foreign dependency, and enhance a high value-added industrial model," he said.
"Industrial sovereignty lies in integrated facilities that process their own raw materials. We advance with this vision," he added. He noted that the investment not only strengthens the company's production capabilities but also enhances Türkiye's global reputation.
