Profit and reserves

The headline result for January–June was RUB 118.7 billion of net profit, an increase of about 41% year on year. The profit base was formed by interest business: net interest income before reserves reached RUB 306.4 billion, more than a third above the prior-year figure. At the same time, the cost of risk grew: charges for expected credit losses on loans and advances to customers amounted to RUB 129.5 billion against RUB 93.4 billion a year earlier. Partly offsetting this, the bank released RUB 14.8 billion of expected credit loss provisions on cash and balances with other banks, whereas a year earlier that line carried a charge of RUB 3.5 billion. After reserves, net interest income totalled RUB 191.8 billion, up 50% year on year — growing faster than income before reserves, which reflects the net effect of provisioning on the half-year result.

Balance sheet: lending and funding

On the asset side, the loan portfolio before reserves contracted moderately, to RUB 8.68 trillion at the end of June, or 2.6% below the start-of-year level. On the funding side, customer funds declined 5.3% over the six months, to RUB 8.64 trillion. Both movements are measured and close in scale: the bank kept its lending book and its customer funding base within a comparable range of roughly RUB 8.6–8.7 trillion, with the loan portfolio slightly exceeding customer funds at the reporting date.

Market position and disclosure

At the end of the second quarter of 2025, Alfa-Bank ranked fourth in the Interfax-100 ranking of Russia's largest banks. The return to interim IFRS disclosure is itself a noteworthy event for the market: the previous interim IFRS report covered the first half of 2021, and since then the bank had published IFRS results only for full years, most recently for 2024. A semi-annual disclosure cadence gives investors and counterparties a fresher picture of profitability, reserve policy and balance-sheet structure.
